iPhone app

Posted by Heriberto Fuentes

My sister and her husband recently switched cable companies and I think they are pleased with their decision to switch. My sister was really excited when she found out that she could get an app on her phone that allowed her to control her DVR when she was not at home. I was jealous of this until I found out that I could get the same app on my phone for Expert Satellite. I think it will be really useful. There have been several times in the past that I have forgotten to set the DVR to record a show or hear about a show that is on while I am not at home that I want to record. Now I can use my phone to control the DVR. My husband thinks that it is a little much to need that much control over the television. However, I guarantee that he will be asking to use my phone to set up the recording of some football games when he forgets to record them at home. I probably will let him, although I am never looking for a way to let him watch more football.

Taking the job

Guest post written by my buddy Bernardo Graham

When I decided to take the job here in Texas I didn’t even really think about what it would mean for my quality of life. All I saw was a huge promotion and a raise so I accepted without even thinking twice! Anyway, now that I’m down here I’ve got some adjusting to do mostly because I don’t know a thing about living in the South. I found a great little townhome that I hooked up with satellite TV and shopelectricityratestexas.com energy packages and I’m ready now to go out and really start making some friends. I wish I had thought to contact some people I knew before I came down here but it turns out I’m on my own and I guess I’m okay with that. There are always plusses and minuses to every situation so if I just keep my head up I’m sure I’ll come through this one with flying colors eventually! Texas is great if I can just get used to it!

No TV

We are still not ready to impose "No TV" to my children. It is the best babysitter for me when no one is around at home to help me take care of them. So, I just limit to a few channels that they are allowed to watch.

Recently I have been following The Duggar Family documentary on TLC. To date, this family have 19 children. They have no TV at home, not even Bell Télé. I really wonder how the mother cope with minding so many children; I missed that episode. :(

PS3

I am not really into gaming especially Playstation but hubby is eyeing to get one
PS3 for himself. He said he can play some of his favorite game when he is bored at the shop or rent it out to those who wanted to play it. If only he has the extra cash to buy one Playstation and a TV too.

iPods

To date, I am still not the owner of any ipods. I would love to have one but my ears just can accept anything poking into it. My ears hurt when I plugged in the earphone into it. When I was in campus, I used to have a walkman but it was only used for recording lectures and listening to song in my room without the earphone. So not cool right?

2 TVs

We have another TV at home now. I wish it is a plasma TV that comes together with the plasma stand but it is not. It is just some cheap unknown brand TV that we bought for our tenant. Since they left and no one is renting, we brought it home.

It came in handy when few weeks ago our Panasonic TV was soaking wet due to heavy rain. That TV was put to rest till it really dries up and we have the spare TV to watch.

Baseball in Genting Highland

At Genting Theme Park beside the Rainforest Splash Pool; warm water pool of course; I had fun playing with bow and arrows. When I was in campus, Archery is my next favorite sport besides Baseball. Even though I always return to my hostel room with blue blacks on my arm, I will still return the next session to shoot again. Oh! The thrill of hitting the Bull’s Eye.

Well, I do hope that one day Genting would have Baseball Equipment. It is fun either to just hit the ball, throw the ball or just to pitch the ball. I am imagining being in a close room with the auto pitching machine and me standing at the batter’s plate, waving my bat, preparing to hit the ball.

Hey, they should invest in this lar. I am sure lots of people would want to try out playing baseball since most of us do not have much opportunity to play the game once we leave school.

I could write to Genting about this brilliant idea and maybe, if they like it, I could get free for lifetime membership to use the facility. Fiona, if you where to read this, suggest to your management okay since you work with them. =)

Holidaying in Sin City

My family and I will be going to the Sin City of Malaysia in 2 days time and out of all the Genting hotels, we chose Theme Park Hotel because I heard good testimonies about the space in the hotel rooms; it is spacious. With my girls coming along with us, a room in First World Hotel won't do just justice to them.

If you plan to visit the Sin City of USA, then looking for Las Vegas Hotels would be a breeze with BestofVegas.com. Not only you will get the best price for hotels, you will be pampered with the best price for the Las Vegas Shows.

You Understand English or Not

Normally on weekends I become normal people. I watch TV instead of blogging. Sometimes when there's nothing interesting to watch on TV, I will look for movies on DVD to watch.

Most of the movies come with Malay subtitle. At first the translation makes me laugh, then it makes me irritated then I wish I got that subtitling job instead of whoever is doing that.

For example, you know the word "arms". When it is supposed to be "arms" the weapon, they translate it as arm the "lengan" upper part of the hand and vice versa.

But I can't help not to read the subtitle when watching an English movie. So used to even though I understand English.

First time I received such intercom from the guard after working here for more than 8 years!

Good start for my sleepy day at work.

Arghhh! I am sleep deprived!

Risk Taker

Lots of people that I know are a risk taker. Not risk taker in business but risk taker in getting fast and easy money which also means they might loose their money fast too. Most of them are either involve in stock market or gambling at the casino or both.

My colleague's in laws love going to Genting Highland. Not for the theme park. Not for the cold weather but to gamble! Almost every month she will go there with her father. She is not working though. Well, her husband must be either rich or work like no tomorrow to support his gambler wife.

Recently my colleague told me that she just bought a computer and installed the broadband. I wonder; could it be that she found out about online casino? If yes, I think her husband has to find more than one job to pay for her credit cards spending on online casino unless she is really good at gambling and wins all the time.

Colleagues Hook To The Internet

My colleagues (my clerks) like to follow the updates of the local and oversea artist. They can't get enough from the newspaper and magazine is kinda costly to buy so they ask for my help to find out about them!

52" LCD TV

I have a 29’ TV but it did not follow me when I come to stay with my husband. It stays at my mom’s. Maybe I should buy a big TV for this new home that I have been living for 7 years. What about a 52” LCD Flat Screen HDTV like below?

52" AQUOS LCD Television HD 1080p resolution, a 15,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, 120 Hz Frame Rate Conversion and six 1080p compatible HD inputs from Sharp. The price is $5,999.00. After discount I can get it at $2,549.95. But that is in USD!

Well, looks like I have to work harder making wishes come true to own a 52” LCD TV.

Salsa in the Office?

A few years back, I have a colleague who can dance very well. When we are free and boss is not around, I will ask her to teach me the salsa dancing steps. She is not only good in Salsa but Cha-Cha, Waltz and Hip Hop too. Too bad she resigned for a higher pay job.

I am thinking to sign up with SalsaBootCamp.com and learn Salsa online. Maybe I will drag my 2 other colleagues to join me. It is more fun having dancing partner even though no partner is not needed to learn Salsa with SalsaBootCamp.com. Then when I am home, I can dance with hubby too. :)
