Daun Ketum

Wonder what leaf is this? This is called the kratom leaf or in Malaysia, we call it daun Ketum. Heard of it? Well, the name sounds familiar to me. My mom might be more familiar with it.

I just discovered that back in the 19th century, people in Malaysia would use it as a substitute when opium was unavailable or unaffordable! And in some parts of Thailand, parents would choose to give their daughters in marriage to men who used kratom rather than men who used marijuana because the "drugs" make them more hardworking and also this kratom leaf prolongs sexual intercourse. No wonder people of those days have a lot of children! hahahaha.
